208 | JEHIEL6 PERKINS, son of (114) Elijah5 [(37) Azariah4 (6) John3, (2) John2, (1) Edward1], was born January 10, 1797-8, in Washington, Litchfield County, Conn. He married, September 24, 1828, Althea Gibbs, daughter of William and Hannah (Sutherland) Northrup of Dutchess County, N. Y., where they had large land grants. While a resident of Connecticut he was a gentleman farmer and a general of militia. From Connecticut he went to Virginia, and from the latter State he returned North, and in 1829 and '30 was in business as a grocer in New York City; later he removed to Auburn, N. Y. In 1836 he was officially connected with the State Prison located there. He died in Auburn April 29, 1857, aged 59. After his death his widow resided in Syracuse, N. Y., where she died, but the date of her death has not been learned. The children of (208) Jehiel6 and Althea (Northrup) Perkins were:
