345 | CHARLES ALLEN7 PERKINS, son of (208) Jehiel6 [(114) Elijah5, (37) Azariah4, (6) John3, (2) John2, (1) Edward1], was born September 17, 1840, in Salisbury, Conn., and was educated in Paris, where he grew to manhood. His education finished, he entered a Parisian bank, where he remained three years. Then, possessed of a desire for a student's life, he sought the "Quartier Latin" in Paris, where he studied law two years, when his health became impaired and he was compelled to seek a milder climate, which he found in Italy, where he also spent two years studying history and learning the language. He was in Naples when the War of the Rebellion broke out, and his father's death about that time summoned him home, and after the settlement of family affairs he visited Washington, passed an examination in |
