a deed of gift of ten acres in the parish of Bethany, where he probably resided.

The date of his death is unknown and no will or settlement of his estate is to be found on the New Haven records. His three children were baptized at New Haven, Conn.

The children of (107) Azariah5 and Elizabeth (Moss) Perkins were:

ELIJAH5 PERKINS, son of (37) Azariah4 [(6) John3, (2) John2, (1) Edward1], was born in New Haven, July 17, 1756, and was by trade a blacksmith; he removed to Washington, Litchfield County, Conn., and settled on an eminence in that town known as Church Hill, where his remains lie in the old burial ground.

It is not certain at what time he removed there, but as both of his marriages and the births of all his children are recorded at Washington, it is reasonable to suppose that he became an inhabitant there before or about the time of his first marriage.

The date of Elijah's birth is entered upon the Washington town records, but the names of his parents are omitted, which involved an extensive search in several of the towns of Litchfield and New Haven Counties before his identity could be established. It is quite probable the item was entered upon record at his own suggestion. He married, first, February 13, 1782, Sarah Castle, who was born , 1760, and died August 27, 1800, in her 41st year; second, Mary Clark, December 11, 1803, who died Sept. 12, 1833, in her 63rd year (born 1771). That she was probably the widow of Samuel Clark of Washington, living in the neighborhood, may be inferred from the following deed, viz.: February 19, 1806, Elias Clark conveys to Thomas Newton Clark two parcels of
