Fifth Generation



2½ acres in fifth division laid out to John Hill; also May 5th following, 2 acres in parish of Amity.

May 26, 1780, we find him in Washington, where and when he bought of Andrew Bell for £13 10s. in solid coin, 18 acres bounded on land set off as dower to the widow of Benj. Bell, south on Anna Gunn, Reuben Hickox and Nathaniel Hickox; west and north on heirs of Benj. Bell, dec'd.

June 25, 1782, he bought of Nathan Hickox for £15, two acres in the parish of Judea, on the west side of Shepang river; and on the same day for £7 he sold to Nathan Hickox five acres bounded on stones, brook, etc. Also for £3 he sells to Reuben Hickox two acres in Judea, bounded north and south on said Perkins; south on said Reuben; west on land I lately sold to said Reuben's father, Nathan Hickox. May 9, 1783, for £12, he deeds to John Munson the two acres he bought of said Nathan Hickox, June 25, 1782. May 27, 1784, for £45, he conveyed to David Hewes ten acres in Washington, bounded east on said Hewes, south on Elnathan Mitchel, west on Sam'l Ford, north on the highway. April 2, 1784, for £450, he deeds to Sam'l Ford of Milford, New Haven County, 83 acres with his dwelling house and barn, "it being the whole of my farm in Washington, bounded north and east on Elnathan Mitchel; west on Enos Baldwin, and south on said Mitchel.

May 3, 1784, for £544, he bought of Eli Wooster of Derby, New Haven County, 65 acres in "Quaker Farm Purchase," so-called, with a dwelling house and barn.

To this place he soon after removed, and we find in the Washington records that June 24, 1784, he was of Derby, where he sold to Elnathan Mitchel of "sd. Washn" for £8 eleven acres in that town, bounded east on Jona. Tuttle; north on Jona. Tuttle and Shepang river; west on Canfield; south on Hickox and Mitchel.
