Fourth Generation



The children of (40) Benjamin4 and Rebecca (Johnson) Perkins were:

124 BENJAMIN5, born Feb. 12, 1745-6; died before 1774. Oct. 25, 1770, he sold his brother Simeon two tracts of land in the Parish of Bethany.
125 SIMEON5, born June 25, 1749.

ELISHA4 PERKINS, son of (10) Elisha3 [(2) John2, (1) Edward1], was born in Hadley, Mass., January 5, 1717. He married, first, Eunice Perkins, who was born in New Haven, March 5, 1722, and died at Hadley, October 7, 1744; he married Dinah Sperry September 9, 1745, and she died in 1747; he then married for his third wife, January 20, 1747-8, Deborah Cooke of Wallingford, who was born October 1, 1725, and died in 1768, when her estate was administered upon by Ebenezer Cooke and brother, Enos Ives, August 28, 1758.

April 25, 1745, he bought of Peter Perkins eight acres and seventeen rods of land in fifth division, in the Parish of Amity, New Haven, which said Peter bought of Gideon Thompson.

December, 1757, Sam'l Merriam of Wallingford was appointed guardian of his children, Sarah, Eunice and Sybil, and the widow Deborah guardian of Elisha, Israel and Dinah. Sam'l Merriam was his brother-in-law, they having married sisters, daughters of (6) John3 Perkins.

His name, Elisha Perkins, is found in an indenture made October 21, 1749, when the estate of (6) John Perkins was settled and in which all the names of the heirs are given. His deceased wife, (39) Eunice, was a daughter of (6) John Perkins. He died at New Haven in 1757, and administration upon his estate was granted his widow Deborah, November, 1757.

The inventory of his estate amounted to £504, 5s, 7d. He died in 1757, but the date of the death of his first wife is unknown. His widow Deborah died in 1758.
